This was Idle & Thackley's May 2026 council election, postponed to Thursday 18 June after the death of a candidate. It was not a by-election. Voters elected three councillors, and the Liberal Democrats won all three seats: Rachel Emma Sunderland, Alun Owen Griffiths and Aislin Naylor. The Liberal Democrats won the ward's previous contest in May 2024 with 60 per cent. Earlier contests were won by the Liberal Democrats in 2023 and 2022. 15 candidates stood.
